Emily Scholes Phd

ADVISORY BOARD DIRECTOR

Emily Scholes is a highly experienced professional in industrial microbiology, with expertise in water and wastewater monitoring, water recycling, anaerobic digestion, membrane operation, and biological systems problem-solving.

In 2018, Emily established EnviroMicroBio, an analytical consulting service located in the Latrobe Valley Gippsland. The facility offered tailored solutions for industrial and agricultural clients. The services were highly individualized and included laboratory and pilot-scale process development, and molecular biology applications for same-day microbiological detection.

Emily’s work is distinguished by her active engagement in research and development, driving innovation to meet complex environmental challenges. She is also dedicated to fostering strong industry and academic partnerships, providing opportunities for student placements, collaborative research, and knowledge exchange to advance the field of industrial microbiology.

Her ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders ensures successful project outcomes, bridging the gap between practical applications and cutting-edge research.

Post COVID, bioenergy and in particular, anaerobic digestion rapidly became the most substantial area of her activity. As of April 2024 Emily has committed to her time and enthusiasm to a unique project near Geelong, focusing on the anaerobic digestion of chicken litter.

Emily is highly aware of the need to increase connections in order to grow Australia’s circular economy and explore mutually beneficial openings, or collaborative research and development initiatives.
